$2000 JACK FARLEY YOUTH SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Every year the BC Sports Hall of Fame awards two Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards. These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding male and one outstanding female amateur athlete graduating from a BC secondary school. These students will excel in a particular sport and exemplify the values, commitment and contribution to the community held by Jack Farley, an honoured member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Winners will receive $2,000, which is to be applied to their education at a post-secondary institution here in British Columbia. Applicants must be graduating from grade 12 and demonstrate that they plan to attend a registered college or university in British Columbia within 12 months of graduation. STANDING TALL COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS AWARD

        Have you been a BC resident for at least 6 months? Are you facing, or have faced, significant hardships and not only risen up against the odds but demonstrates a commitment to continue your education at an accredited Canadian university, college or technical school in Fall 2015? Sponsored by the five Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon and Rotaract, this exciting, educational experience will provide students with an intense four and a half days (April 27- May 1) focused on enhancing their awareness and understanding of technology, the many ways it affects our lives and the opportunities it holds for tomorrow. Students will have an opportunity to explore advanced technology, research, development and applications.  During their visit, participants will be able to open the doors to an exciting array of some of Canada’s finest corporations and research facilities.   Participants will have a unique opportunity to meet their peers from other parts of Canada.  Accommodation, meals and full supervision is provided through the Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon. 

Interested candidates must be in Grade 12, be high achieving, able to work as part of a team and have excellent potential to become community leaders.  See Ms.Morabito for an application.

The Burnaby Optimist Club will award up to $500 scholarships to grads from Burnaby Secondary Schools.

CRITERIA
- demonstrated, continued volunteer involvement in a community group, organization or activity
- preference will be given to those with volunteer activities within their high school and in their community.

Grace Family Network Foundation has established a scholarship fund to award to deserving high school graduates in financial need. $1000 Rotary Club of Burnaby - Deer Lake Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually to a well-rounded student who has demonstrated strong citizenship and leadership skills as demonstrated through voluntary participation in community and school activities. The scholarship shall be applicable towards post-secondary education or trades training at any approved institution.

$3000 BCIT PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS AWARDS


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• You must have applied for admission to BCIT and have been assigned a BCIT ID
• You must be a citizen or permanent residents of Canada
• You must commence your BCIT full-time studies before March 31, 2015
• A recipient must remain registered as a full-time student during the academic period for
  which an award is given
• A recipient must maintain satisfactory academic standing during the academic period for 
  which an award is given
• BCIT Pathway to Success Awards are not deferrable and must be accepted in the year in
   which they are awarded.

SELECTION CRITERIA
The student must demonstrate leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as:
• taken leadership training or courses
• or volunteered in the community
• or work experience
• or captain/president of sports team or group
• or is involved in extracurricular activities
• or play a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise.

LETTER OF INTENT
The student must write a letter of intent which outlines:
• their career goals
• why they have chosen that particular career
• that they have a good understanding of the job and the skills required
• why they want to be a BCIT student
• outlines their leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as family.
 
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Every application must include the following information:
• Completed application form with BCIT ID
• Completed student letter of intent

$1000 CRISIS CENTRE SCHOLARSHIP

The Crisis Centre is offering two scholarships worth $1000 each to Grade 12’s – one of for leadership and community service; the other is for athletes who have been involved in promoting “your personal mental wellness and/or that of your sports team, or community.” Examples of this could be visiting a mental health professional, encouraging peers to reach out when in need, involving oneself in emotionally-sustaining community activities, supporting anti-stigma efforts, forming LGBTQ alliances, or attending community events mandated to promote mental wellness.
