$2500 Stacy Levitt Memorial Award

The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of Stacey’s life by her family through Parachute. This annual high school student award encourages Canadian youth to embody Stacey’s qualities and ideals and Parachute’s overarching goal of a long life lived to the fullest, while maintaining an approach that is rooted in risk management and injury prevention.

The Levitt family awards each year's selected recipient $2,500 in funding to help them live their life to the fullest. The award could be put towards an educational endeavour, engagement in sports, or investment in a travel experience – all pursuits that would have resonated with Stacey. Award recipients are expected to write a reflection on the impact of the funding on their life, due within one year of the distribution of funds. 

The successful recipient will also receive a copy of Stacey’s book of poetry, I Am a Rose: A Life in Poetry published by her family in 1996 after her death.

RE/MAX of Western Canada has renewed the Quest for Excellence bursary program. This year we are once again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to grade 12 students.

$3000 BCIT PATHWAY TO SUCCESS

BCIT Pathway to Success Awards are for students planning to enter into a full-time first year technology, technical studies or trade program (excluding Apprentice)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• You must have applied for admission to BCIT and have been assigned a BCIT ID
• You must be a citizen or permanent residents of Canada
• You must commence your BCIT full-time studies before March 31, 2018
• A recipient must remain registered as a fulltime student during the academic period for which an award is given
• A recipient must maintain satisfactory academic standing during the academic 

period for which an award is given
•Awards are not deferrable and must be accepted in the year in which they are 

awarded.

SELECTION CRITERIA
The student must demonstrate leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as family. Examples are:
• taken leadership training/courses
• volunteer and/or community service
• work experience
• captain/president of sports team or group
• Involvement in extracurricular activities
• Play a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise.

LETTER OF INTENT
The student must write a letter of intent which outlines:
• their career goals
• why they have chosen that particular career
• that they have a good understanding of the job and the skills required
• why they want to be a BCIT student
• outlines their leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as family.

$1000 British Columbia School Superintendents Shcolarship

Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their fnal year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2016. One winner will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters. Each winner will be awarded a $1000 scholarship.

 In selecting the recipients for this year’s awards, the scholarship committees will consider academic achievement, as indicated on each applicant’s school transcript of grades, and demonstrated exemplary service and leadership within the school and community. Letters of reference will be required affrming the applicant’s accomplishments and efforts to improve the quality of life for young people and others through volunteer work and other activities. $500 Charlene Reaveley Children's Charity Bursary

The Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity recognizes graduating students who harbour the hope and potential for a brighter tomorrow in the face of adversity through the loss of a parent and/or sibling. CRCCS is proud to give back by providing financial recognition to students who exemplify Charlene’s involvement in the community and/or volunteer work which encourages the youth of today to be the leaders of tomorrow. This program was inspired by Charlene’s passion for children and desire for a closer community.

All bursaries require that candidates are in good academic standing, contribute to their communities, and will be furthering their education at a post-secondary institution upon graduation. CRCCS board of directors will select the successful recipients.

 To qualify for the bursary, students would be required to meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 student
• Lost a parent and/or sibling 
• Seeking post secondary education 
• Involved in the community/volunteer work 
• Write a 1 page (300-400 word) essay on how they fit the criteria

$35,000 Cmolik Foundation Sscholarship

The Cmolik Foundation awards scholarships to deserving BC students who have demonstrated good work ethic, tenacity and other commendable attributes in achieving their academic and social goals and who, without our support, may not have the means to attend a post secondary institution.  We look for students that have faced adversity, but through hard work and determination have been successful in achieving their goals.  Applicants must have been residents of BC for the past 8 years.

The Foundation will reimburse up to $35,000 for books and tuition leading to an undergraduate degree.  The maximum duration for funding is 5 consecutive years from the start of the student's initial semester.  Reimbursements are paid in installments throughout the duration of the program provided the students meet the Foundation's scholarship criteria.

  We require endorsement by the secondary school principal stating that the student has the academic ability to be successful in a post-secondary educational environment.

The Rotary Club of Burnaby is pleased to sponsor 1 grade 12 student to participate in each of the following programs:

• Adventures in Technology trip to Saskatchewan
• Adventures in Tourism- trip to Kelowna

The successful candidate will go on an all expenses paid trip to participate in related activities and learn more about the specific field (e.g Citizenship, Tourism, Film, Forestry/Environment). Up to $100,000 Schulich Leader Scholarship

In order to become a Schulich Leader you must be planning to attend one of 20 designated Canadian Universities selected to participate in Schulich Leader Scholarships in the Fall of 2017.

Eligibility:

Must possess at least two of the three following attributes:

• Academic Excellence: Exceptional grades
• Demonstrated leadership (community, business or entrepreneurial)
• Financial need (planning to apply for financial assistance to attend university)

to qualify, Nominees must:

• be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• enroll at one of our partner universities

Must be entrepreneurial minded, intending to pursue a career in:

• Innovation
• Techonology
• Engineering
• Scientific Research

They are NOT looking for students pursuuing careers in :

• Medicine

Up to $28 000 TERRY FOX HUMANITARIAN AWARD

To be considered for the award students must be:

• In good academic standing.
• Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
• Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students who have completed secondary (high) school
• Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
• Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.

Terry Fox Award Recipients are eligible to receive the Award until they graduate with their first university degree or diploma (for a maximum of four years), provided they maintain satisfactory academic standing and a standard of humanitarian work and personal conduct which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, justifies the award.

Value

The maximum value of the award is $28,000, dispersed over four (4) years. A stipend of $7,000 is issued directly to the institution each year in two instalments of $3,500, one in September and one in January. For students who do not pay tuition fees, the award is $3,500 per year, issued directly to the institution in two instalments of $1,750 each.

Recipients of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award may not receive more than $15,000 in total scholarships annually (including the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award). If a student’s awards exceed this amount, any excess will be deducted from the student’s Terry Fox Award.

If a student’s academic expenses are covered by another source, they may choose to decline acceptance of the financial portion of the award. They will still be granted the distinction of being a Terry Fox Scholar.
