ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP FOR ST MARK'S COLLEGE AT UBC

7-$1000 AUTOMOTIVE RETAILERS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The newly formed Automotive Retailers Foundation (ARFI) is dedicated to promoting the Automotive Industry as a viable source of employment in British Columbia. Statistics show that there is an increasing demand for skilled labour in the Automotive Industry. Properly trained technicians will be able to find well-paid, life-long, viable employment in the Automotive Industry in B.C.

In order to help students to gain the training and experience they need to become certified technicians the ARFI is offering seven awards of $1,000 each. The awards comprise of two Scholarships and five bursaries.
  
In 2017, the following 7 awards will be offered:

ARFI - Bob Clarke Memorial $1000 (quantity 1)
ARFI - BC Auto Recyclers Bursary $1000 (quantity 2)
ARFI - Scholarship - Automotive Trades Development $1000 (quantity 2)

$1000 SOUTH BURNABY METRO CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Have you played soccer, basketball or baseball for 3 years with the South Burnaby Metro Club? The SBMC Will be awarding three 3 $1,000.00 scholarships to GRADS who have in the past or present been actively involved with one of our soccer, basketball, baseball programs for a minimum of three years. 2 UNION OF NATIONAL EMPLOYEES BURSARIES

Laurier Auger Bursary

Brother Laurier Auger was a former member of the Union of National Employees. He served on the National Executive from June 1972 to April 1974. His life was cut short by a car accident in April 1974. In his honour, the Union of National Employees offers a bursary to its members and their families to assist them in the pursuit of their studies.
The Laurier Auger Bursary awards $2,000 to a UNE member – or their partner or child – who is entering the first year of post-secondary education. The application for this bursary must be received by March 31.

UNE President's Bursary for Continuing Education

This bursary provides financial assistance to Union of National Employees members who seek to pursue part-time studies in industrial relations, labour affairs or other union-oriented courses with the goal of increasing their knowledge and ability to participate in union activities.
The UNE President's Bursary for Continuing Education awards $1,000 to a member who wishes to attend a union-related course. The application for this bursary must be received by March 31.

$1000 UNION OF NATIONAL EMPLOYEES SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is open to students entering full-time or part-time study at a post-secondary institution. Each applicant must submit a 1200 to 1500-word essay detailing how the union movement has helped to build the social values that Canadians hold dear. Essays will be evaluated using the following criteria: passion, content and knowledge of subject matter.

Up to $2500 APEG Foundation Post Secondary Entrance Scholarship

Are you planning to study Engineering or Earth Science at SFU, UBC, UNBC or BCIT? Then this is the scholarship for you! The APEG Foundation is a registered charity that promotes education in engineering and geoscience through granting scholarships and bursaries to students in British Columbia.

APEGBC Post-Secondary Entrance Scholarships:

 • The APEG Foundation offers entrance scholarships to British Columbia high school graduates entering engineering or earth science programs at the University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology and the University of Northern British Columbia.

 • Six entrance scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, are awarded on the basis of a combination of factors, including academic standing, extracurricular activities, financial need and a student statement.

APEGBC Post-Secondary Entrance Transfer Scholarships:
 • The APEG Foundation offers entrance scholarships to British Columbia high school graduates entering engineering transfer programs.

 • One scholarship, valued at $1,000, is awarded on the basis of a combination of factors, including academic standing, extracurricular activities, financial need and student statement.

$1000 BURNABY SPORTS HALL OF FAME SCHOLARSHIP

Have you been a resident of Burnaby for the past three years? Planning on attending post secondary in the fall and show excellence in athletics ? Then don't miss out on this scholarship!!

Capilano entrance awards recognize excellence in scholastic, athletic and artistic achievement along with incoming student's demonstrated commitment to community involvement and leadership endeavours . Some entrance awards are by student application and some entrance awards are by nomination by either the student's highschool or by Capilano University.

$2500 STANDING TALL COAST CAPITAL SAVINGS AWARD


Are you facing, or have faced, significant hardships  e.g. poverty, health, family issues, personal loss and lack and not only risen up against the odds but demonstrates a commitment to continue your education at an accredited Canadian university, college or technical school in Fall 2017?  Then this is the award for you. Describe your story in 500 words or less and submit to Ms.Morabito by March 31.


$5000 PATHWAY TO TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Are you planning to pursue a career in teaching? Then this is the scholarship for you! (Extended to FEB 22)

The Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship (PTES) is awarded to 20 outstanding high school graduates who have demonstrated a commitment and aptitude for a career path in K-12 teaching. Each recipient will receive a $5000 scholarship voucher to use towards tuition in their teaching program at a designated BC post-secondary institution.

A student applying for this scholarship must meet basic eligibility requirements and be:

  • In their graduation year with graduation to occur by August 31
  • Eligible for a B.C. Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma)

Selection Criteria for Applicants:

  • Maintaining a ‘B’ average (73% or above) in all Grade 11 and 12 courses required for graduation
    • with no more than one Grade 12 mark at a ‘C+’ level (67% or above)
  • Showing evidence of commitment and aptitude for a teaching career in the K-12 system
Selection of winners will be finalized by August 31st and vouchers will be mailed to winners’ addresses on record in the first week of September.
The vouchers can be redeemed when the student is registered and attending an approved teacher education program at one of the following nine Faculties of Education:
  • Simon Fraser University
  • Trinity Western University
  • Thompson Rivers University
  • University of the Fraser Valley
  • University of British Columbia
  • University of British Columbia – Okanagan
  • University of Northern British Columbia
  • University of Victoria
  • Vancouver Island University
Students must redeem their voucher within 7 years of their high school graduation (expiry date is on the voucher).
When you submit your application, make sure you include:
  • Two references – one from a community person and one from someone at your school
  • A resume
  • A written response that outlines why you want to be a teacher
