TOP 20 UNDER 20

The Top 20 under 20 provides 20 awards of: $5000 towards and educational experience, all expenses paid trip to Toronto for the ceremony, leadership development through attending Leadership Summit, Mentoring program and career coaching. 


The only requirement is that your leadership and innovation has led to the betterment of your school, community, province and/or country. Top 20 under 20™ applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • A young person who has demonstrated significant amounts of Innovation, Leadership and Achievements in their life, school, community, province or country
     
  • Under the age of 20 (as of December 31, 2011)
     
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residence status
     
  • Desire to pursue some form of education or training, whether that be Canadian post-secondary or training or apprenticeship programs.
     
  • All nominations must include a letter of endorsement by a sponsor. The sponsor must speak to the applicant's role and innovative project.

SPONSORED STUDENTS FOR LORAN AWARD

The Scholarship Committee met and chose 3 students who were extremely well rounded (very involved in the community, in school, in athletics, and in the arts. The committee chose students who best demonstrated character, leadership and a strong commitment to service in the community. The 3 students who will be sponsored by Burnaby Central are Wonjun Cho, Aljohn Lorenzana and Cindy Xiong. Please see Ms.Morabito asap.

NOT SPONSORED? YOU CAN STILL WIN A LORAN AWARD!
To all the other applicants and anyone else who didn't make the October 11th deadline you are still eligible to win the Loran award by applying to the direct pool.  Please pick up your application from Ms.Morabito or complete an online application and mail it to the Direct Pool before OCTOBER 26th (needs to be in Toronto by Oct. 26th so mail it by Oct 19th just to be safe). It is a very thorough application so even if you don't win this one you will have already done a lot of the work required for other scholarships!

ROTARY CLUB ADVENTURES SCHOLARSHIP & TRIP!!!

Are you a good citizen or interested in film? forestry or the environment? technology? tourism? The Rotary Club of Burnaby is pleased to sponsor five (1 student for each area) students from the Burnaby School District to participate in an all expenses paid trip to attend the following programs:
      • Adventures in Citizenship
      • Adventures in Film
      • Adventures in Forestry & Environmental Studies
      • Adventures in Technology
      • Adventures in Tourism
 All candidates will be interviewed by members of the Rotary Club of Burnaby who will choose one candidate to participate in each of the programs.

LORAN AWARD

THANK YOU to all students who submitted applications for the LORAN AWARD. Burnaby Central will be endorsing 3 students. Successful students will be notified by the end of the week. Students who are not sponsored by the school are still encouraged to submit/mail their applications to the direct pool by OCTOBER 26th.

$32,000 UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

UofG offers 12 prestigious scholarships at $32,000 each and includes a research assistantship position and mentorship by one of Guelph's leading professors.
