$500 BURNABY OPTIMIST CLUB 2016 VOLUNTEER AWARD

The Burnaby Optimist Club will award up to 3 $500 post secondary education scholarships to students graduating from Burnaby Secondary schools. The criteria for this scholarship is a demonstrated, continued volunteer involvement in a community group, organization, or activity. Preference will be given to those with volunteer activities within their high school and their community

$1000 BC TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

Established in 2005, the BC Technology Scholarship supports the next generation of tech leaders in British Columbia. Powered by the BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) and funded by the tech industry, the BC Tech Scholarship recognizes students pursuing post-secondary education in all technology-related fields. This includes, but is not limited to: IT, Engineering, Marketing, Digital Media, Product Management, Business Development, Sales and more.

This year there are 6 x $1,000 grants available for Grade 12 grads beginning a four-year post-secondary program in September 2016.

BC Tech Scholarship Timeline:

• Now: Applications accepted online. (Paper submissions will not be accepted)
• April 27: Application Deadline
• May 13: Successful applicants will be notified. (Only successful applicants will be notified)
• June 7: Formal award presentation at the Technology Impact Awards (Ability to attend the presentation does not affect chances of being a grant recipient.)

$6000 CST Consultants Inc. Guruparan and Winsor Scholarship

Are you going into commerce, finance, or business? Do your parents/guardians not have post secondary education or received it outside of Canada? Then this is the scholarship for you. The CST Scholarships are granted to graduating high school students who are academically gifted, well-rounded, and pursuing their first undergraduate commerce, finance or business program at a recognized post secondary institution. This program is intended to aid students whose parents/guardians do not have a post-secondary education or received their post-secondary education outside of Canada.One female and one male recipient will be awarded $6,000 each.

$2000 Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards

Every year the BC Sports Hall of Fame awards two Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards. These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding male and one outstanding female amateur athlete graduating from a BC secondary school.These students will excel in a particular sport and exemplify the values, commitment and contribution to the community held by Jack Farley, an honoured member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Winners will receive $2,000, which is to be applied to their education at a post-secondary institution here in British Columbia. Applicants must be graduating from grade 12 and demonstrate that they plan to attend a registered college or university in British Columbia within 12 months of graduation.

$2500 STANDING TALL AWARDS

We know youth get it. Just because you’re young, doesn't mean you haven’t faced adversity. Whether it’s financial difficulties, family issues, personal loss, lack of supports, or considerable health challenges. Our Standing Tall Awards support youth who have faced adversity and not only risen up against the odds, but are demonstrating a commitment to continue their education. This includes, but is not limited to: poverty, health, family issues, personal loss, and lack of supports, i.e., youth who are or who have been in government care.

To be eligible to receive an award, students must :
 A Canadian Citizen or permanent resident
 A BC resident (for at least 6 months)
 Graduating high school in June 2016
  Planning to attend an accredited Canadian university, college or technical school in Fall 2016
