$100000 LORAN AWARD

There are over 30 Loran awards valued at up to $100,000 awarded across Canada. Potential candidates must exhibit :

  • strong academic performance over grade 11 (85% average or better)
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • excellent moral character and genuine commitment to serving others
  • ability to manage and lead others
  • determination and independent thinking
  • a willingness to take meaningful risks.

Is your school planning to sponsor your application or are you applying to the direct pool (without sponsorship)? If you don’t know yet, don’t worry: you may return to your application and change your selection later.
   
 
SPONOSORSHIP DEADLINE: Print your application, place it in an envelope and submit to Ms. Morabito by October 5.
Central's scholarship committee will choose 3 candidates to sponsor by October 18.

DIRECT POOL DEADLINE: Missed the sponsorship deadline? You can mail your applications to Toronto for the direct pool by October 25.

Take a look at the  application overview and a sample application form. As in previous years, you will need to submit a transcript, ask a  teacher or community member to be  your reference and meet the October 5th deadline if you are seeking school sponsorship.

$1000 CONFRATELLANZA ITALO-CANADESE SCHOLARSHIP

The Confratellanza Italo-Canadese Society is again offering several $1000 scholarships to eligible candidates for this year.  The scholarships are open to this year's graduating secondary school students planning to enrol in a post-secondary academic degree program.  To be eligible for this scholarship candidates must:

1) be of Italian origin i.e. as having at least one parent or grandparent of direct Italian descent
2) be living in a city or municipality within the 21-member GVRD
3) have an academic standing sufficient to qualify for entry into the post-secondary institution of their choice.

$1000 YTS COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIPS


One of Youth Transforming Society’s goals is to promote community volunteerism among youth. To further this goal, we have created the YTS Scholarship for Community Service. These $1000 awards will recognize students for their dedication and commitment to selfless service in the community. We hope to continue to celebrate the achievements of young people who have created positive change. 

Eligibility:
To be considered for this award, the applicant must be:
1. A graduating, grade 12 student attending secondary school in the Lower Mainland.
2. Attending a Canadian post-secondary institution on a full time basis beginning September 2018. Proof of acceptance may be requested.
3. Actively involved in voluntary pursuits of any kind (humanitarian, environmental, etc.).
4. Minimum academic average of 70%. Proof of average may be requested.

How To Apply:

1. Review the eligibility criteria, application steps, and information document.
2. Complete the application form. Click here to access the form.
3. Email us your resume detailing your volunteer experience, leadership work, and any other extracurricular activities to youthtransformingsociety@gmail.com. Title your document under your name (e.g. John Smith). Your application will be considered incomplete if you do not submit your resume by the deadline.

4. Send us a video of yourself answering the questions found below in bullet points. We ask that you email us a link to Google Drive, YouTube, or Dropbox from where we can directly download your video. Title your video under your name (e.g. John Smith). Please ensure your video is between 5-7 minutes.

UP TO $3500 BC TECH SCHOLARSHIP


Established in 2005, the industry-funded BC Tech Scholarship Program is proud to provide grants to students who have a proven passion for technology, a desire to leave a mark in the tech sector, and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a technology-related program.

2018 Grant Amounts:
● Up to 3 x $3,500 for current University and College students

$500 LUKA GORDIC MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Dedicated to the memory of Luka Gordic a 2014 Burnaby Central graduate. Three awards will be presented to well rounded students who, while maintaining a good academic standing, have demonstrated positive interactions with the school community and have participated in school athletics. UP TO $5000 LISA HUUS BURSARY

LISA HUUS BURSARY assists persons with physical disabilities to begin or continue post-secondary education in British Columbia.

About the Bursary
The Lisa Huus Memorial Fund provides bursaries in the range of $500 to $2,000 annually per recipient, to assist persons with disabilities to undertake or continue their post-secondary education for academic credit at the University of Victoria or other accredited post-secondary institutions in British Columbia. Bursaries may be used for items such as tuition fees, textbooks, equipment, transportation, residence and support worker costs.
Eligibility
  • Persons with disabilities studying at the University of Victoria or another accredited post-secondary institution in British Columbia.
  • Persons attending a qualifying post-secondary institution who require a personal attendant, are dependent on a mechanical device for mobility or maintenance of body functions, require major continuing therapies, or have other significant special needs.
  • Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
  • Only complete applications that meet all stated criteria will be considered for funding
