WATERLOO MATHEMATICS NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

U Of W offers 13 prestigious scholarships to exceptional students entering first year in the  Faculty of Mathematics. The CIBC National Scholarship, with a value of $25000 over 4 years, and 12 Descartes National Scholarship ranging in value from $12000 -$18000 over 4  years. Also they proved up to 150 entrance scholarships ($1000-$10000) for those who apply to the Faculty of Mathematics and write the Euclid Contest. DEADLINE: February 7

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA SCHOLARSHIPS

The University of Alberta offers Entrance Scholastic Distinction Scholarships valued up to $50000. Candidates must:
  • be entering an undergraduate degree program at the U of A in September 2011
  • have maintained an award average of approximately 95%+ in Grades 10, 11 and 12 [+]
  • provide completed and in-progress Grade 12 grades and projected Grade 12 grades
  • provide an academic reference and student essay

The University of Alberta also offers Entrance Leadership Scholarships

This scholarship competition recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership through school and community involvement while maintaining superior academic standing. Candidates must:
  • be entering an undergraduate degree program from high school at the UofA in September 2011
  • possess exceptional leadership qualities as demonstrated by community service and involvement

UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO SCHOLARSHIPS

For the 2011/2012 academic year UWO will offer :
  •  Up to 6 PRESIDENT'S ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS valued at about $34000 ($6000 per academic year for a period of 4 years with up to $10000 towards residence costs), 
  • Up to 8 FACULTY ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS valued at approximately $23000
  • 1 BERYL IVEY CONTINUING ENTRANCE AWARD valued at $64000 
  • Up to 50 National Merit Awards valued at $2000
For scholarship consideration you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have obtained a minimum overall academic average of 90% on all Grade 12 courses. National Scholarships are available only at Western's main campus and Faculty Entrance Scholarships are available only within the faculty for which the scholarship has been awarded. You must make an admission application to The University of Western Ontario (main campus) to be considered for these scholarships and you must register as a full-time student. The Beryl Ivey Continuing Entrance Award has a financial need component. A supplemental application in addition to the National Scholarship application is required for students to be considered.

ETON COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

There are 4 scholarships and one grant with a total value of over $20,000 for GRADS interested in pursuing a diploma in Travel and Tourism or Hospitality Management. Students must have a B average in their grade 11 and 12 year, provide 1 letter of reference, prove involvement in any volunteer, community or socio-civic cause and show leadership. $70 000 TD SCHOLARSHIP


$70 000 TD Scholarship FOR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

This scholarship rewards students who have shown leadership in many areas including environmental cleanup (ARE YOU ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB?), the promotion of social justice (ARE YOU ON S.W.A.T?), and the fight against child poverty (ARE YOU ON GAAP?), to name just a few. Your outstanding and consistent concerns for the improvement of your community, could make you eligible for a scholarship to cover the cost of your post-secondary education. You may have found a new way to solve a community problem working within an existing group or organization; you may have started something brand new.

Each scholarship is valued at up to $70,000 and includes
  • Up to $10,000 for tuition per year
  • $7,500 a year toward living expenses 
  • An offer of paid summer employment
  • Mentorship Opportunities
  • Invitations to annual gatherings, networking opportunities and events

$75 000 LORAN AWARD

UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP & BOOK AWARD 


Thanks to all of you submitted applications for the U of T National Scholarship. It has officially closed. Good Luck to all of you who applied and don't forget to thank all those teachers who wrote you reference letters! Remember teachers require a minimum of 1 week notice for reference letters. 


LORAN AWARD 


There are over 30 Loran awards valuing up to $75,000 awarded across Canada. Potential candidates must exhibit strong academic performance and moral character, commitment to serving others, great potential as leaders, independent thinking, and a willingness to take meaningful risks. Applications are available at www.loranaward.ca/sef/page/id/14.html Applications are due to Ms. Morabito by October 12 so that I can choose 3 candidates that will be sponsored by the school or you can mail your applications to Toronto for the direct pool before October 27.


SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY WRITING SEMINAR !!

DON'T MISS OUT !!! The English Department is hosting a scholarship essay writing seminar after school on Thursday, October 14 in room 323. They will be sharing tips on what Scholarship judges are looking for in scholarship essays. This will be an excellent opportunity to brush up on your essay writing skills and secure that scholarship. Don't miss out on this excellent opportunity!!
