$2000 BCIC YOUNG INNOVATOR SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
BCIC is offering $2000 to students who will be entering one of the following areas sciences, technology development, engineering, mathematics, digital- arts, media, and/or design or business entrepreneurship at a BC post secondary school.

The scholarship is awarded through two methods:

The Idea Mash Up:Challenges students to create an idea for a new technology by mashing together two or more current technologies or things e.g. web + log = blog, snow + surfboard = snowboard etc.

  • Proposals must describe the innovation, the process for how the student came up with it, and the use of the innovation
  • Team must present their Idea MashUps
  • Need 10 participants/school or can partner with another school if you don't Composehave 10 participants
  • Ask your favourite teacher to sponsor your team- $750 will be given to the school to support an Idea mashUp competition
Science Fair :

  • Is a competition between students (grade 11 and or 12) who create original scientific research or innovative projects. 
  • Ask your science teacher to sponsor one- $750 will be given to the school to support a fair.

$50,000 GARFIELD WESTON AWARD

Attention all grads going to college (BCIT, DOUGLAS, EMILY CARR, LANGARA etc.) to pursue a diploma or applied degree! This is the scholarship for you! The National award is valued at up to $50,000, including a waiver, an $8000 annual stipend and summer opportunities. Up to 25 awards are available!

 SELECTION CRITERIA
Entrance W. Garfield Weston Awards recognize and reward the outstanding college-bound student who is:
  • passionate about his or her field of study;
  • curious, courageous, and willing to try new things; &
  • community-minded and truly interested in becoming involved and making a difference in society.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for an Entrance W. Garfield Weston Award, a student must:
  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • have completed or be presently completing secondary school diploma/credentials 
  • be entering his or her first-year of full-time college studies in the fall of 2011 leading to a diploma or applied degree (university transfer programs, and pre-university DEC studies are not eligible) in a program recognized as eligible by the college and the W. Garfield Weston Awards;
  • be entering full-time college studies of at least 16 months in duration with a 100% full-time course load; &
  • have a minimum average of 75% in courses required for his or her college program of choice.

$1000 SPROTT SHAW COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

SPROTT SHAW is awarding up to $1000 scholarships if you register with the college between December 1 and Febuary 29, 2012. If you are planning on a career in Business Management, Health Sciences, Early Childhood Education, Construction Electrician or Tourism, register at  www.sprottshaw.com/gift by FEBRUARY 29, 2012. 

$64,000 UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO SCHOLARSHIPS

For the 2012/2013 academic year UWO will offer :
  •  Up to 6 PRESIDENT'S ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS valued at about $34000 ($6000 per academic year for a period of 4 years with up to $10000 towards residence costs), 
  • Up to 8 FACULTY ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS valued at approximately $23000
  • 1 BERYL IVEY CONTINUING ENTRANCE AWARD valued at $64000 
  • Up to 50 National Merit Awards valued at $2000
For scholarship consideration you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and have obtained a minimum overall academic average of 90% on all Grade 12 courses. National Scholarships are available only at Western's main campus and Faculty Entrance Scholarships are available only within the faculty for which the scholarship has been awarded. You must make an admission application to The University of Western Ontario (main campus) to be considered for these scholarships and you must register as a full-time student. The Beryl Ivey Continuing Entrance Award has a financial need component. A supplemental application in addition to the National Scholarship application is required for students to be considered.

$7000-$34000 SFU ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

A  reminder to all Grads with a 90% average or better to apply for the SFU major entrance scholarship. You have nothing to lose and up to $34,000 to gain! 
What to do:

  • complete and sign application form
  • get one completed nomination form (available at students.sfu.ca/entrancescholarships) 
  • get one reference letter. These two documents must not be from the same referee. At least one referee should be a teacher who knows you well.
  • ensure both referees are able to base their reference on direct knowledge about you. Your reference letter should include comments on your rank in class, your abilities in comparison to students your referee has known, your volunteer/extracurricular activities, and their assessment of the contribution you will make to SFU both inside and outside class. (Include this information in the request for reference letter sheet (available on school website) you give to your teacher)
  • complete a one page summary of your achievements and activities, in a table with the following headings: The organization, club or extracurricular activity in which you were involved, the position you held, the duration of that position, the number of hours you spent with that group, a brief description of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Provide clear and concise details about your volunteer work, school or community involvement, extracurricular activities, and artistic or athletics interests. In addition, describe in one paragraph your most important volunteer work or community involvement and why it was important to you. 
  • write a 900 word essay on one of the quotes provided
  • include 2 copies of your transcript that includes your grade 11 and 12 course marks to date. 
  • for new Canadians, a copy of your citizenship or Canadian permanent resident documents.

Rotary Club Forestry Adventure ALL EXPENSES PAID TRIP!!!

$3000 MILLER THOMSON NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The foundation will award 100 entrance scholarships of $3000 to students who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, have made a positive contribution to their school thorugh extracurricular activities and have made a significant contributions of time and energy to community service programs. Students must have a minimum of 87%  overall grade average. Students planning to attend a post-secondary insititution in Canada leading to a degree or diploma from a college or university are eligible to apply. $60,000 SCHULICH LEADER SCHOLARSHP

Are you interested in studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics at a Canadian University? Then this is the scholarship for you! In order to become a Schulich Leader, one must be a Schulich Leader Nominee enrolling in a STEM -Science, Techonology, Engineering or Mathematics faculty at a minimum of one of 20 designated Canadian Universities selected to participate in Schulich Leader Scholarships in the Fall of 2012.
To be eligible you must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and possess at least two of the three following attributes:

  • Exceptional high academic grades
  • Demonstrated leadership in school life and community life, or provided evidence of entrepreneurial talent
  • Financial need
  • Schulich Leader Nominees must provide two written references with at least one academic ( ask a teacher and a community member today deadline is approaching)

$25,000 Waterloo University

Interested in a career in mathematical or computer science? This could be the scholarship for you!

U Of W offers 13 prestigious scholarships to exceptional students entering first year in the  Faculty of Mathematics. The CIBC National Scholarship, with a value of $25000 over 4 years, and 12 Descartes National Scholarship ranging in value from $12000 -$18000 over 4  years. Also they provide up to 150 entrance scholarships ($1000-$10000) for those who apply to the Faculty of Mathematics and write the Euclid Contest. DEADLINE: February 6

$5000 Top 20 Under 20 Award

TOP 20 UNDER 20

The Top 20 under 20 provides 20 awards of: $5000 towards and educational experience, all expenses paid trip to Toronto for the ceremony, leadership development through attending Leadership Summit, Mentoring program and career coaching. 


The only requirement is that your leadership and innovation has led to the betterment of your school, community, province and/or country. Top 20 under 20™ applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • A young person who has demonstrated significant amounts of Innovation, Leadership and Achievements in their life, school, community, province or country
     
  • Under the age of 20 (as of December 31, 2012)
     
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residence status
     
  • Desire to pursue some form of education or training, whether that be Canadian post-secondary or training or apprenticeship programs.
     
  • All nominations must include a letter of endorsement by a sponsor. The sponsor must speak to the applicant's role and innovative project.
