Did you go to Lyndhurst Elementary? Then apply for a $500 scholarship. Applicants must: 

- have attended Lyndhurst Elementary School
- be a grade 12 student in Burnaby
- have demonstrated strong service to their community (at Lyndhurst, high school or other)
- write a 500 word essay on their post secondary or entrepreneurial plan(s) and how community-based service has helped them to prepare for their future.
- provide a brief letter of support of this application from a teacher or school/community official

There are 2 scholarships available for Burnaby GRADS, valued at $3000 each.Students must be attending full time first year technology, technical studies, or a trade progam (not apprentice) and must have a BCIT student number. Applications available from Ms.Morabito and are due to her by APRIL 5.

BURNABY SPORTS HALL OF FAME SCHOLARSHIP
The Hall would like to encourage future excellence in athletics, academics and sportsmanship in Burnaby by offering a $1000 scholarship to a male athlete and female athlete. 
Eligibility requirements:
  • A resident of Burnaby for the past 3 years
  • Future plans to attend a post-secondary institution on a fulltime basis
  • Show evidence of high athletic ability and performance
  • Maintain a minimum of C+ average ( send copy of transcript)
  • Demonstrate Leadership
  • Be active in school and community

PUBLIC GUARDIAN & TRUSTEE BURSARY

The bursary will be awarded to a student who was a former permanent ward of the provincial government or has been in custody of the BC Ministry of Children & Families, be planning to go to post secondary school in either an academic, technical or vocational program and be 19 years old. Consideration will be given to financial need, past marks and stated career goals.  See Ms. Morabito for an application.

KWANTLEN POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS

Going to Kwantlen University? Make sure you apply for two major entrance scholarships. The Leaders of Tomorrow Entrance Scholarships/Presidents Award of $20,000 and The Merit Award of $5000 for academic achievement, community and school involvement and volunteerism. There are 9 entrance awards ranging in value from $900 to $3000. Consideration is given to program of study, high school location and athletic involvement.   • Candidate selected should be a Burnaby resident who has, through will and spirit, overcome physical or mental challenges to graduate from a Burnaby secondary school.  (Staff may also put names forward.)
  • Must have been enrolled in a Burnaby school for five years.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to be a life long learner and continue his or her education at a post secondary institution or in a recognized training program

·         Passionate about sports and committed to the spirit of “teamwork”

·       Awarded to a Burnaby graduate who is blind, visually impaired or deaf-blind

·         Interested in pursuing a career in public administration e.g. Public servants working in public
            departments/agencies, at all levels of government ( government positions, police officers etc.)

Marjorie Jane Stephenson - Education Scholarship
·         In memory of Marjorie J. Stephenson who benefited from the caring work of Burnaby school
      volunteers while residing at the Royal Arch Masonic Home.
