In memory of Tony Marzitelli, the Marzitelli family has established an annual $500 scholarship fund to reward a worthy graduating student with an opportunity to assist in the pursuit of their academic dreams. $1000 Cerebral Palsy Association of BC

The Cerebral Palsy Association of BC proudly offers ten bursaries of $1,000 each, to any eligible student 17 years and older, with CP, that is currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning, and is planning to continue their studies the following term.

$1500 CONFRATELLANZA ITALO-CANADESE SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

The Confratellanza Italo-Canadese Society is again offering several $1,500 scholarships to eligible candidates for this year.  The scholarships are open to this year's graduating secondary school students planning to enrol in a post-secondary academic degree program.  To be eligible for this scholarship candidates must:

1) be of Italian origin i.e. as having at least one parent or grandparent of direct Italian descent
2) be living in a city or municipality within the 21-member GVRD
3) have an academic standing sufficient to qualify for entry into the post-secondary institution of their choice.

$6000 BC ARTS COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

Outstanding art students studying at the post-secondary level may apply now to be considered for a scholarship award from the BC Arts Council to assist with pre-professional training.

Eligible disciplines include arts administration, community-based arts practice, museology, conservation, dance, media arts, theatre, music, curatorial practice, creative writing and visual art.

BC Arts Council’s scholarship program provides funding of up to $6,000 per year to successful applicants. B.C. residents attending full-time studies in a fine-arts diploma or degree program at a recognized college, university, institution or academy, in any country, are eligible to apply. Half-day high school dance programs may also be eligible.

$1000 AUTOMOTIVE RETAILERS FOUNDATION AWARDS

 

The newly formed Automotive Retailers Foundation (ARFI) is dedicated to promoting the Automotive Industry as a viable source of employment in British Columbia. Statistics show that there is an increasing demand for skilled labour in the Automotive Industry. Properly trained technicians will be able to find well-paid, life-long, viable employment in the Automotive Industry in B.C.

 

In order to help students to gain the training and experience they need to become certified technicians the ARFI is offering seven awards of $1,000 each. The awards comprise of two Scholarships and five bursaries.

2016 Lotus Light Charity Scholarship

Any Canadian student who is 17 years or older and will be beginning or continuing their studies at a recognized post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis may be eligible to receive the Lotus Light Charity Society (LLCS) Scholarship to assist in those studies.  Applicants will be assessed on scholastic record and community volunteer involvement.
The 2016 LLCS Scholarship application submission period is March 1 to May 15, 2016; successful applicants will be notified at the end of June. NOTE: Students who have completed or are in their final years of their post-secondary study at the closing date of the application period are not eligible.

Dedicated to the memory of Luka Gordic a 2014 Burnaby Central graduate. Three awards will be presented to well rounded students who, while maintaining a good academic standing, have demonstrated positive interactions with the school community and have participated in school athletics. $3000 BCIT Pathway to Success Awards

Have you been accepted to BCIT? There are 2 awards at $3000 for Burnaby students. These awards are for students planning to enter into a full-time first year technology, technical studies or trade program (excluding Apprentice) directly from high school. The intent of these awards is to recognize students who are well-rounded citizens, who have displayed leadership qualities, and have demonstrated that they are willing to work hard to achieve their goals. Commitment and drive are as important as formal academic standing.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• You must have applied for admission to BCIT and have been assigned a BCIT ID
• You must be a citizen or permanent residents of Canada
• You must commence your BCIT full-time studies before March 31, 2017
• A recipient must remain registered as a full-time student during the academic period for
  which an award is given
• A recipient must maintain satisfactory academic standing during the academic period for 
  which an award is given
• BCIT Pathway to Success Awards are not deferrable and must be accepted in the year in
   which they are awarded.

SELECTION CRITERIA
The student must demonstrate leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as:
• taken leadership training or courses
• or volunteered in the community
• or work experience
• or captain/president of sports team or group
• or is involved in extracurricular activities
• or play a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise.

LETTER OF INTENT
The student must write a letter of intent which outlines:
• their career goals
• why they have chosen that particular career
• that they have a good understanding of the job and the skills required
• why they want to be a BCIT student
• outlines their leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as family.

$1000 BC TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

Established in 2005, the BC Technology Scholarship supports the next generation of tech leaders in British Columbia. Powered by the BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) and funded by the tech industry, the BC Tech Scholarship recognizes students pursuing post-secondary education in all technology-related fields. This includes, but is not limited to: IT, Engineering, Marketing, Digital Media, Product Management, Business Development, Sales and more.

This year there are 6 x $1,000 grants available for Grade 12 grads beginning a four-year post-secondary program in September 2016.

$6000 CST Consultants Inc. Guruparan and Winsor Scholarship

Are you going into commerce, finance, or business? Do your parents/guardians not have post secondary education or received it outside of Canada? Then this is the scholarship for you. The CST Scholarships are granted to graduating high school students who are academically gifted, well-rounded, and pursuing their first undergraduate commerce, finance or business program at a recognized post secondary institution. This program is intended to aid students whose parents/guardians do not have a post-secondary education or received their post-secondary education outside of Canada.One female and one male recipient will be awarded $6,000 each.

$2000 Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards

Every year the BC Sports Hall of Fame awards two Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards. These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding male and one outstanding female amateur athlete graduating from a BC secondary school.These students will excel in a particular sport and exemplify the values, commitment and contribution to the community held by Jack Farley, an honoured member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Winners will receive $2,000, which is to be applied to their education at a post-secondary institution here in British Columbia. Applicants must be graduating from grade 12 and demonstrate that they plan to attend a registered college or university in British Columbia within 12 months of graduation.

$2500 STANDING TALL AWARDS

We know youth get it. Just because you’re young, doesn't mean you haven’t faced adversity. Whether it’s financial difficulties, family issues, personal loss, lack of supports, or considerable health challenges. Our Standing Tall Awards support youth who have faced adversity and not only risen up against the odds, but are demonstrating a commitment to continue their education. This includes, but is not limited to: poverty, health, family issues, personal loss, and lack of supports, i.e., youth who are or who have been in government care.

To be eligible to receive an award, students must :
 A Canadian Citizen or permanent resident
 A BC resident (for at least 6 months)
