$1500 Confratellanza Italo-Canadese Society

The Confratellanza Italo-Canadese Society is again offering several $1,500 scholarships to eligible candidates for this year.  The scholarships are open to this year's graduating secondary school students planning to enrol in a post-secondary academic degree program.  To be eligible for this scholarship candidates must:

1) be of Italian origin i.e. as having at least one parent or grandparent of direct Italian descent
2) be living in a city or municipality within the 21-member GVRD
3) have an academic standing sufficient to qualify for entry into the post-secondary institution of their choice.

This Scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.

$1000 SOAR PHILANTHROPIC SOCIETY


SOAR Philanthropic Society will be giving out over $25,000 in scholarship funds for the categories of academics, adversity, athletics, community engagement, culinary arts, entrepreneurship & innovation, health & mindfulness, leadership, skilled trades, social justice & law, visual & performing arts. Each scholarship is $1,000. 

On May 27, 2017 SOAR will be holding their annual SOAR Summit Conference at Simon Fraser University. Some of the major partners in this project are Simon Fraser University, Vancity Credit Union, Desjardins, Daily Hive (Vancity Buzz), and more. This is a one day leadership conference, along with workshops for local high school students. Its our annual event at SFU Surrey, where we have keynote speakers from various backgrounds, including representatives from universities, law enforcement officers, TedTalks and more. More information from the summit can be seen at www.soarps.org/summit. Over 200 students from all across the Lower Mainland attend this event. High school students can register at www.soarps.org. Registration closes in early June.

$1000 CLEAN ENERGY (CEBC) SCHOLARSHIP

Clean Energy BC (CEBC) is pleased to offer a student scholarship of $1000. The scholarship is available for students who are interested in pursuing a future in clean energy at a post-secondary institution.
Eligibility: Must be a BC secondary student (full-time, currently enrolled) that is graduating in 2017.
Application Materials:
  • Applicants must submit a 1-2 page paper (500 words) responding to the question “Why is clean energy important to me as a young person in BC?” Please explain why clean energy is important, cite any relevant experience with projects, volunteering, or community work, and indicate any future plans for involvement (please indicate the post-secondary institutions you have applied to and any acceptances).
  • Applicants must also provide one letter of reference (not a relative). This could be from a teacher, a community representative, a pastor/religious teacher or a coach. The reference letter should speak to your character as a person.
  • Please provide your contact information – address, phone number and e-mail.

3-$500 Grace Family Network Foundation Scholarships

This scholarship was started in memory of Rebecca Chan, the Grace Family Network Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide financial awards and support community organization work with under-resourced children.

This scholarship will be awarded to three diverse high school graduates who are pursuing post-secondary education. Priority will be given to students in financial need.

$3000-$7000 YOUTH TRAIN in TRADES (formerly ACE-IT)

The Industry Training Authority (ITA), the government agency which sponsors YOUTH TRAIN in TRADES (formerly ACE-IT) Programs, is planning to fund Graduate students for the first time in September, 2017.

Any school age student who is planning to transition to a Foundation Trades program at BCIT, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, or VCC will now have the opportunity to apply and enroll in any of Burnaby’s YOUTH TRAIN in TRADES Programs with no tuition costs. The cost of taking Foundation programs at a Post-Secondary Institution ranges from $3000 - $7000.

$1000 BC TECH SCHOLARSHIP


Established in 2005, the industry-funded BC Technology Scholarship Program is proud to provide grants to students who have a proven passion for technology, a desire to leave a mark in the tech sector, and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a BC-based technology-related discipline.

New to the program this year is our Equality Scholarship powered by Discovery Foundation, which aims to support the education of underrepresented groups in the community. The goal is to develop not only a diverse but inclusive workforce where everyone feels that they belong.

There are up to 6 x $1,000 grants available to Grade 12 Graduates entering post-secondary in September 2017.

As for the Equality Scholarship, there is 1 x $1,000 available to University/College students or Grade 12 graduates who belong to the following groups:
  • Women
  • First Nations
  • Persons with disabilities
  • New immigrants
  • LGBTQ
