$1000 WHITE HATTER SCHOLARSHIP

The White Hatter Scholarship was established in 2018 by the Laur family and their company Personal Protection Systems Inc. This scholarship, of $1000, will be awarded to one student who has demonstrated academic achievement in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and is wanting to further their education in the field of Information Technology, Network Security, or Computer Technology. This scholarship is for students looking to enroll in their first year of a minimum 1-year undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate program, on a full-time basis, at a recognized publicly-funded Canadian University, college or technical school in the fall 2019/2020 academic term.
Who Can Apply?
  • Any grade 12 Canadian student who attended any school that had a White Hatter Social Media Safety and Digital Literacy presentation in the 2019/2020 school year.

Application Process
  • A student applying for this scholarship will have to provide a cover letter describing their desires to continue education in the field of Information Technology, Network Security, or Computer Technology.
  • The cover letter must contain:

    o The post-secondary school accepted to or schools applied to o Proofyouareastudent
  • Provide at least one letter of reference from a teacher that outlines why the applicant should be considered for this scholarship.
  • The student applicant will also have to provide an essay on the topic on “The Benefits of Education Technology in the Classroom” The essay must be within 800-1000 words in length.
  • The winning student and essay will be announced following the winning applicant announcement date.

UP TO $40,000 BEEDIE LUMINARIES SCHOLARSHIP

They are looking for resilient BC students who are facing financial adversity, have the academic readiness to advance their education, achieve their dreams, and inspire others.
Each student will receive either $10,000 per year for a four-year bachelor degree program (up to $40,000) or $7,500 per year for a two-year diploma or trades program (up to $15,000)

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident for at least three years
  • Be a BC resident, residing in the Lower Mainland
  • Be in their final year of high school, entering into full-time studies in a first bachelor degree, first diploma, or first trades program at one of the eligible post secondary institutions (listed on application link)
  • Have a minimum cumulative average of 75 % 
  • Demonstrate your or your family's financial adversity

$1000 GAP YEAR SCHOLARSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:
  • Currently in Grade 12 or have completed Grade 12 within the past 12 months
  • Currently in a post-secondary program
  • Or, currently in gap year

Gap Year Status:
- Student must show proof of post-secondary school Deferred Admission status into a program for the next school year
- Or, show proof of Leave of Absence status with their current post-secondary program

Gap Year Goals: In the scholarship application, student must tell us why they will be taking a gap year and what they have planned for that gap year

Scholarship Payout: Winner will be selected in June 2020 with monetary payout once the gap year is done and proof of enrolment is supplied
