DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES

Dalhousie strives to recognize the academic, extra-curricular, and leadership achievements of students. Dalhousie offers entrance scholarships to 58% of first year students, and special scholarship for students with disabilities and entering specific fields of study. 3- $1000 SOUTH ASIAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The South Asian Family Association is proud to offer three scholarships in the amount of $1000 each in the following categories:
(1) Academic Excellence
(2) Excellence in Community Involvement
(3) Excellence in Fine Arts


Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be eligible for a scholarship, a student must:

  • Be a student of South Asian descent
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration Act
  • Be enrolling in his/her first year of full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada or abroad
  • Be completing/have completed grade 12 in a British Columbia high school

$3300 PUBLIC GAURDIAN & TRUSTEE ASSISTANCE FUND

1. To be eligible a student must be a former permanent ward of the Province of BC and planning to study at a post-secondary level in an academic, technical or vocational program.

2. Financial Need
An applicant must:
•  demonstrate a financial shortfall which might cause the individual to be unable to pursue their studies;
•  demonstrate some means of financial support;
•  demonstrate an inability to access additional means of financial support to make up the shortfall; and
•  provide an estimated descriptive budget for the upcoming academic year based on reasonable expenses and reasonable means of financial support.

3. Post Academic Performance
An applicant must demonstrate:
•  an academic, technical or vocational ability to pursue the intended educational goal;
and
•  an academic, technical or vocational commitment to obtaining the educational goal.
4. Career Goals
An applicant must demonstrate:
•  a clear career goal;
•  a direct relationship between the educational goal and the career goal;
•  a personal commitment to the career goal (e.g., related education to date, related volunteer experience, related work experience, or references from educators, counsellors or field workers); and
•  personal suitability to the chosen career (e.g., references from educators, career counselors, or field workers).
