GENERAL DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIPS

 All District Scholarships are DUE by 9:00am on MARCH 8 to Ms.Morabito in room A233. The application requirements are listed on the DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION PROCESS post.

$1000 Burnaby Association of Senior Exempt Employees (BASES) Scholarship          The BASES scholarship is awarded annually to a well-rounded Burnaby student who meets the following criteria:

  • maintained a good academic standing
  • been actively involved in community service and/or volunteer work beyond that required for graduation
  • demonstrated leadership in Burnaby through consistent and outstanding dedication to a community initiative or making their community a better place.
  • Consideration is to be given to a student with financial need.
$500 Burnaby Civic Employee’s – CUPE Local 23 Scholarship
  •  Must be attending a BC post-secondary or vocational school
  •  Maintained a good academic standing
  •  Demonstrated good citizenship in school and the community
  •  Participated in volunteer activities
Burnaby South War Memorial Bursary
The Burnaby South War Memorial bursaries are awarded to a Burnaby grad who has continually demonstrated the following:
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have the desire to continue his/her education at a post-secondary institution in Canada
  • Must demonstrate good citizenship, sharing and responsibility, and a willingness to help others
  • Must demonstrate Financial need
  • Maintained a good academic standing;
$3000 BCIT Pathway To Success Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Burnaby student who is planning to enter into a full-time first year technology, technical studies or trade program (excluding Apprentice) at BCIT
  • Must have applied for admission to BCIT and have been assigned a BCIT ID 
  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada 
  • Must commence your BCIT full-time studies before March 31, 2022
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities such as: family taken leadership training/courses, volunteer and/or community service or work experience, captain/president of sports team or group, involvement in extracurricular activities, play a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise.
BCIT APPLICATION         

$1000 Chad Turpin Scholarship
The Burnaby Association of Senior Exempt Employees (BASES) has created the Chad Turpin Scholarship, to recognize the contributions to the City of Burnaby by former Deputy City Manager Chad Turpin. The scholarship will be awarded to a well-rounded Burnaby student who meets the following criteria:
  • been actively involved in community service and/or volunteer work beyond that required for graduation; and
  • demonstrated leadership in Burnaby through consistent and outstanding dedication to a community initiative or making their community a better place
  • has an interest in public administration, public policy or public service e.g. politics, health care, teaching, policing etc
$1000 City of Burnaby Bursary 
To be eligible for a City of Burnaby Bursary, students must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of the City of Burnaby; 
  • Be in Grade 12 and eligible to graduate (within the year of application) from a public secondary school in Burnaby School District 41
  • Be accepted to a program of studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada, such as universities, community colleges, technical schools – proof of registration in a minimum of three courses in a post-secondary institution shall be required before any bursary award payment is made to a recipient; 
  • Preference will be given to a student who has participated in a community program prior to graduating and can demonstrate outstanding community involvement and volunteerism; and,
  • Students who demonstrate financial need (family income below $50,000) will be given priority.
$200 Harris & Co. Scholarship
To be considered for the award the student should have:
  • Excelled in Law 11 or 12 course and
  • Planning to pursue post secondary education at a recognized Institute, College or University 
$500 Marjorie Jane Stephenson - Education Scholarship
  • Demonstrated community service assisting seniors (excluding Work Experience
  • You will need a verification of volunteer hours letter on letter head from the supervisor of the care facility where you volunteered . The letter must indicate the tasks completed and the total number of hours volunteered (NOT including Work Experience)
  • Demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in Health Care 
  • Maintained a good academic standing 
  • Demonstrated good citizenship and strong leadership skills in the school and community
$1000 Parkcrest Children’s Centre Scholarship
Is awarded to a student who has attended Parkcrest Children's Centre for at least one year and meets the following criteria:
  • Completed Proof form (see link below)
  • Maintained a good academic standing 
  • Provide evidence of volunteer or work experience 
  • Participated and actively involved in school and community and/or volunteer activities 
  • Demonstrated good citizenship and leadership skills 
Parkcrest Proof Form         

$500 Dr. & Mrs. A. H. Pontifex Scholarship
  • Has maintained a good academic standing 
  • Has taken a concentration of, and excelled in, courses in the field of Science 
  • Has demonstrated good citizenship and strong leadership in school and the community 
  • Has participated in community service and volunteer work in the community 
  • Has demonstrated a passion for, and interest in, pursuing a career in Science
$250 Ricoh Office Solutions Scholarship
  • Must be attending BCIT in the next 2 years (proof of registration required)
  • Demonstrated good citizenship
  • Actively involved in school service
  • Maintained a good academic standing
  • Consideration given to a student with financial need
$1000 Rotary Club of Burnaby Bursary 
Is awarded to one student at each of Burnaby's Secondary Schools and who meets the following criteria:
  • Has maintained a good academic standing 
  • Has demonstrated good citizenship and STRONG leadership in school and the community 
  • Has participated in community service and volunteer work in the community 
  • Demonstrates financial need
